Blood services is an essential part of modern health care management. There are two Blood Bank at Tezpur. One at Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Tezpur Town. Another at Tezpur Medical College, Tumuki, 10 km away from Tezpur Town . Both the Blood Bank have advance laboratory unit to separate blood into several components. This makes possible a unit of blood can be benefited upto four needy person .
90% of blood are given to needy patient free of cost who are admitted at Kanaklata Civil Hospital, Mother and Child Hospital at Paruwa and Tezpur Medical College. In and around Tezpur several private Hospitals are located and Tezpur TATA Cancer Centre , Tumuki all are dependent on these two Blood Bank.
In general public is not aware of blood donation requirement ,its benefit to the donors.
We, IRCS SONITPUR put our best effort to reach out to community at large, our registered wings of Youth Red Cross at various colleges for holding blood donation camps and awareness campaign, distribution of leaflets . We do hold Interactive sessions with students in schools basically among our Junior Red Cross .
Every year we organise two days mega Blood Donation Camp on Republic Day and on Independence Day.
At least one campus blood donation camp at Tezpur University, Tezpur College are organised.
